Technical Services
o
Desktop Services
Today's IT
professionals are tasked with managing a multitude of platforms, operating
systems, networks, databases, applications and vendors. Maintaining control of
this complex infrastructure is more complicated than ever. Our Desktop Services
primary function is to provide technical support for PC hardware and software to
help ease the increasing technology demands for i_TECH customers. With our
flexible Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), you can choose the amount of support
you require so that your end-users are productive and satisfied, and so that
your critical infrastructure performs.
o Help
Desk
The i_TECH Help Desk
is the initial call center for our customers who require technical support or
trouble shooting for any of the applications that are provided by i_TECH. The
Help Desk Support Specialists and Help Desk Representatives provide on-line
technical support, focusing on the breakdown, analysis and resolution of
customer issues. This includes running effective basic diagnostics to further
evaluate the issue while utilizing internal and external resource knowledge
bases to document the problem. In the event that the Help Desk Representative
cannot directly resolve the customer's issue, the call will be quickly and
accurately routed to additional support. The Help Desk Representative actively
monitors the progress of a call that has been referred to a field technician or
additional support groups to ensure a high level of customer
satisfaction.
o Network Services
Web Services
Web Services are a
collection of web-protocol based applications that can be mixed and matched to
provide business functionality through an internet connection. Web services use
standard Internet protocols such as HTTP and XML to provide connectivity and
interoperability between organizations. i_TECH offers three varieties of web
services to our customers that can be licensed separately or as combined
services.
• Web Hosting
i_TECH's web hosting service provides the physical location of our customer's
websites on a secure web server that delivers web site content to browsers. We
manage the web server and network environment while providing you with the
exclusive access to maintenance the content of your web pages. Our web hosting
service enables our customers to have a presence on the internet while taking
advantage of our 24/7 expert monitoring and support without all of the costly
investment for technical equipment and
maintenance.
• Internet Access
i_TECH can provide the connection to the internet for your organization's
users.
• Email Hosting and
Content Filtering
Our
email hosting service provides our customers the physical storage for their
users' email. Many of our clients use email systems such as Microsoft Outlook
and Outlook Express. However, if you prefer to use a different email software
system, i_TECH can support that software for your organization.
Our email
service provides:
• 25 MB storage
size for each mailbox
• Remote
access
• Secured email hosting
•
Caching
Content filtering (also known as information filtering) is the use of a program
to screen and exclude from access or availability Web pages or email that is
deemed objectionable. Content filtering usually works by specifying character
strings that, if matched, indicate undesirable content that is to be screened
out. Content is typically screened for pornographic content and sometimes also
for violence- or hate-oriented content.
Local Area Network (LAN)
A local area network (LAN) is a group of computers and associated devices that
share a common communications line or wireless link and typically share the
resources of a single processor or server within a small geographic area (for
example, within an office building). A local area network may serve as few as
two or three users or as many as thousands of users. Most LANs are typically
confined to a single building or group of buildings.
Most LANs connect
workstations and personal computers. Each individual computer in a LAN has its
own CPU with which it executes programs, but it also is able to access data and
devices anywhere on the LAN. This means that many users can share expensive
devices, such as laser printers, as well as data. Users can also use the LAN to
communicate with each other, by sending e-mail or engaging in chat sessions.
LANs are capable of transmitting data at very fast rates, much faster than
data can be transmitted over a telephone line; but the distances are limited,
and there is also a limit on the number of computers that can be attached to a
single LAN.
Wide Area Network (WAN)
A wide area network (WAN) is a data communications network that covers a
relatively broad geographic area and often uses transmission facilities provided
by common carriers, such as telephone companies. Wide Area Networks are built to
provide communication solutions for organizations or people who need to exchange
digital information between two distant places. Since the distance is long, the
local telecommunication company is involved. WANs are usually maintained by the
public telephone companies (like AT&T, Sprint, Qwest).
WAN Services' primary purpose is to ensure that our customers have dependable,
centralized and secure data transmission between the i_TECH network and our
customer's centralized access site. Our WAN engineers are experienced
professionals that evaluate your organization's resources and needs to recommend
the most effective data communication solution. By specializing in data traffic
analysis, our WAN engineers can manage the entire process to ensure that your
organization receives the maximum transport capability to fit your financial
expectations.
Dedicated T1 Service
A dedicated T1 line is the best application for companies transferring private
files or using corporate wide area networks. This service provides your
institution high-speed, dedicated point to point access to your licensed
applications residing on the i_TECH network as well as reliable internet access.
T1 technology has no distance limitations, so you can get the exact speed you
need, for uploads and downloads, regardless of how far you are from our Billings
location. A T1 connection operates at 1.544 million bits per second and allows
data to travel in both directions simultaneously.
A dedicated T1 line provides your institution with the maximum amount of
bandwidth around the clock for the most demanding applications and access
requirements. Depending on their network activity, a T1 line can generally
support many consecutive users. For general internet browsing, hundreds of users
can comfortably share a T1 line. Since you won't be sharing this circuit with
anyone else, this type of connection provides your users with a guaranteed
connection to our network.
i_Tech’s T1 Point-to-Point clients enjoy continual throughput at the
contracted bandwidth speed, 24 hours a day. Additionally, if your Internet
connection is critical for the day-to-day operations, a Point-to-Point T1
circuit may be the perfect solution for
you.
Fractional T1 Frame Relay
Service
Institutions with smaller bandwidth needs may be interested in a fractional T1
(sometimes referred to as a "flexible T1) which is the ideal, affordable
solution for users who have fluctuating bandwidth needs or require very high
bandwidth in bursts. If a full T1 is not needed, it can be "fractionalized" or
divided into lower speed connections. Each of these fractions is 64Kbits/sec
meaning that any increment of 64Kbits/sec can be selected.
A fractional T1 is a full T1 (1.544 Mbps) leased-line circuit from your main
access location to the i_TECH frame relay cloud. A fractional T1 line gives you
the advantage of using a full T1, but the pricing is based on how much bandwidth
your institution uses over 95% of the month.
Our customers can choose from speeds ranging from 384 Kbps (kilobits per
second) to 1.5 Mbps (megabits per second). Guaranteed line speed corresponds to
the synchronization rate from your main location to the i_TECH network. Pricing
is determined by the speed you
select.
56K Frame Relay
Service
Frame Relay is high-speed data transport technology that gives you private
network performance at public network prices. With Frame Relay you get the
stability and availability of a leased line network – without paying the high
distance-based premiums generally associated with a private network. The data is
sent at the speed of 56Kbps (kilobits per second) over predefined, logical
paths, called Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVC's) to a specified, fixed location.
These virtual connections do not tie up capacity on a physical circuit when it
is not in use.
Our 56K Frame Relay service is extremely versatile by allowing you to allocate
bandwidth to meet specific access needs. 56K Frame Relay entails the use of a
shared telephone circuit provided by your local telephone company that connects
your institution to our system. 56K Frame Relay service is the most
cost-effective connection for our customers to access their information from the i_TECH network. The monthly cost is considerably lower than a T1 line and you
can increase your bandwidth as your needs grow in the future.
